Founded in 2008 as an augmentation of the Shooting Sports Committee of Greater New York Councils, Boy Scouts of America, by a dedicated group of Scouters to foster and promote shooting sports by educating the public, especially our youth, and promoting safety and ethics. And to foster and encourage the right of American Citizens to own and bear arms as provided by the Constitution of the United States of America.
The Association consists of unit leaders, who volunteer their time to train Scouts in the safe operation of firearms and archery equipment. Scouts also receive instruction related to earning Shooting Sports Merit Badges and awards.
All members are BSA and NRA Certified Range Safety Officers and or Firearms Instructors.
During the year the Association supports the various Shooting Sports Committee events, with the premier event being its Shooting Sports Weekends. Beginning in 2009 with one weekend and 150 participants, this event has grown to the point where it is conducted on three weekends with over 1200 Scouts and Scouters attending.
All activities are conducted in accordance with the BSA Shooting Sports Manual, the Guide to Safe Scouting, and other rules and regulations established by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
The Association is recognized by the National Rifle Association (Club ID # N77495), the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. (Member # 36374) and the Civilian Marksmanship Program (Organization # 091338)

All scouts are trained in the safe operation of a firearm. All instructors are BSA and NRA Certified Range Safety Officers or Instructors. Scouts also get to work on requirements for various merit badges.

Ten Mile River Scout Reservation
Founded in 1927 by Governor Franklin Delano Roosevelt, TMR boasts over 15 lakes and over 12,000 acres of forests with the Delaware River forming its southern border. The camp offers plenty of opportunity for numerous outdoor activities. In 2017 Ten Mile River celebrated its 90th anniversary.
